The Institute for Shock Physics’ Applied Sciences Laboratory (ASL) is a university-based contract research organization, located in Spokane, Washington.
ASL is customer oriented, focusing on solving problems for industry and government agencies using a multidisciplinary approach that encompasses both the physical sciences and engineering. ASL’s primary focus areas include energy, national security, and advanced materials and sensors. The scientific underpinnings to address the multidisciplinary challenges involve materials science, chemistry, physics, engineering, mechanics of materials, and computational modeling and simulations. ASL has established a unique research presence in the physical sciences and engineering which provides solutions to challenging technical problems for businesses throughout the region, including technology transfer for commercial applications.
