Sources of Financial Support

ISP Financial Support

The ISP Graduate Scholar Award and the ISP Director’s Fellowship support outstanding incoming graduate students who commit to completing their PhD thesis research in shock wave or dynamic compression science. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents.

Eligibility for financial support include a demonstrated interest in ISP research activities, an excellent academic record, and admission to an academic department in the physical sciences or engineering at WSU. For more information about admission procedures, please visit WSU Admissions.

To be considered for the either of these prestigious awards, please complete the application below. In addition to the application form, you will be asked to provide the following:

  • One-page letter of interest addressed to Dr. Brian Jensen, Director
  • Resume
  • Unofficial transcripts

Awards include:

  • $34,000 Annual Stipend
  • ~$2,000 Annual Support for Fees
  • Waiver of Tuition
  • Health Insurance

Research Assistantships

A Research Assistantship (RA) includes an annual stipend, waiver of tuition, and health insurance.  To be considered for a Research Assistantship, please view the graduate studies admission guidelines published by the academic department in your field.  In addition, please feel free to contact the Institute directly (shock@wsu.edu or 509.335.7217) for more information.
